Job #: C950
Location: Rockville Centre, NY (Long Island)
Organ Type: Dual Console Pipe
Building Type: Church
Date: 2011
Agnes Cathedral is a very large church with a very busy liturgical space. Originally, a dual console Wicks organ was installed, which suffered from multiple lighting strikes. Following a massive lightning strike during a snow storm in January of 2011, the decision was made to install an all new Classic relay system. Matched, dual consoles make for a large and complex relay. Classic systems are optically isolated and robust, so even after a lighting strike, most of the time service on the relay isn't complicated. Consoles and installation of their related chamber equipment were tackled one at a time, so the organ could remain in place, and playing during this undertaking. Installation of the new system was completed by Christmas the same year.
