Do you sacrifice sound quality by going digital?
The short answer is "it depends". There are some digital organs that do not sound very good. There are also some real pipe organs that do not sound very good. Good pipe organs are very expensive. It is possible to get an excellent sounding, 50 stop digital organ for less than it costs to get a very limited pipe organ.
To hear some exceptionally GOOD digital organs try the Marshall & Ogletree Opus 1 at Trinity Wall Street or, in Canada, the organ at St.Georges Anglican in Ajax, Ontario. They are not just organs that are "great for being a digital". They are Simply Stunning as Organs Period!
